Portola Hills was a census-designated place in Orange County, California, United States. The population was 6,391 at the 2000 census. It was incorporated into the city of Lake Forest, California, in 2000. Portola Hills is located in the heart of South Orange County, between the Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park and the Cleveland National Forest, between Foothill Ranch and Rancho Santa Margarita. This is a family community with a variety of stores, theaters and restaurants conveniently located nearby at the Foothill Ranch shopping center. It's situation next to the Saddleback Mountains coupled with its close drive to its neighboring Silverado Canyon and Trabuco Canyon make this community an inviting place to be if you want to be close to nature, but not too far away from all the conveniences of our modern world.
